Purpose: Records that first-run setup is complete, so the admin area doesn’t redirect to the install wizard

Purpose: Bot and abuse protection — set only when Cloudflare needs to check that traffic is coming from a real browser

Analytics and performance cookies
These help us understand which guides are read and how visitors find them, so we can improve the Site. They are set only if you click “Accept analytics” on the cookie banner.
_ga, _ga_<container-id>
Purpose: Google Analytics 4 — pseudonymous visitor and session counts, pages viewed, referral source, country-level location
Duration: Up to 2 years
Set by: Google Analytics (third party), only with your consent
Until you choose (or if you decline), Google Analytics runs in Google Consent Mode: it sets no cookies and receives only an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, which Google uses for aggregate modelling. Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts visits in aggregate without using cookies.
Functionality
We remember your cookie choice so the banner doesn’t reappear on every page. This is stored in your browser’s local storage (key bdcc-consent), not in a cookie, and stays until you change your choice or clear your browser data.
Marketing and advertising cookies
We don’t use any. The Site sets no advertising, retargeting, or social-media tracking cookies, and we don’t build advertising profiles.
Third-Party Services
The following providers may set or read cookies, or process data, when you use the Site:
- Google Tag Manager — loads our analytics configuration
- Google Analytics — measures site traffic and usage, cookies only with your consent
- Microsoft Bookings — our meeting scheduler; its cookies apply only on Microsoft’s booking page when you open it
- Cloudflare — delivers and protects the Site; may set security cookies and provides cookieless analytics
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
Cookie consent banner
On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the button, which is also in the footer of every page. If you decline, any Google Analytics cookies already set are removed.

Please note: blocking essential cookies won’t affect reading the guides, but it will stop the admin area from working.
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no agreed standard for responding to it, so the Site does not change its behaviour based on DNT; you can control analytics through the cookie banner and your browser settings instead.
How Long Do Cookies Last?
